Tràigh

Tràigh is a live audio performance recorded
on a beach on Lismore. The encroaching tide served as a time constraint, one take to film and record the audio before we got wet, removing the opportunity for a retake. The outcome contains all of our impulses, inclinations and imperfections. We chose to reflect on tidal cycles, and the shoreline next to our camp where we cooked, washed and built fires in the evenings.

Tràigh was created using various small hardware synthesizers, (OP-1, Volca FM, Monotron delay,) chained into a foley recorder that served as an audio interface. Ableton was manipulated using MIDI controllers.

There is an island there is no going
to but in a small boat the way
the saints went, travelling the gallery
of the frightened faces of
the long-drowned, munching the gravel
of its beaches.
